WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GENRES? HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE(S) FOR ME?
The aim of Pole and Aerial Art Hungary is to provide space to many forms of artistic self-expression. There are people who especially like to test themself in a competitive situation, but there are also quite a few who want to go on the stage just for the joy of performing.
Whichever group you belong to, you can show your talent at the Pole and Aerial Art Hungary event. The Glamour and Exotic Art appeals to all those who specifically want to present themself and their art in this genre.
Based on the genre descriptions below, choose the one (or even more) closest to your own artistic-self-expression.
POLE AND AERIAL ART – COMPETITION
You can compare your skills with other competitors on pole, hoop, hammock, silk/tissue, or on a freestyle aerial equipment, based on specific scoring criteria in the category corresponding to your skill level and age group. In the merged „freestyle” category which is not specified in the previous list, you can perform your routine on almost any kind of equipment that’s fixed on the ground or suspended in the air. We can provide two competition poles and some aerial equipments in a limited number and version, but you can also bring your own equipment that you are already used to, after getting them approved by submitting the Technical form.
POLE AND AERIAL ART – FREE CREATIVE SPACE
The Free Creative Space provides time and space for you perform your art tot he public on the equipment of your choice. In this genre, performances are not being judged, there is no scoring by the jury, and no audience voting. In the Free Creative Space genre, you have a wider time interval to perform on stage compared to the competition, and there is no classification by skill levels or age groups. However, you must also submit you music, and the Theme and Technical form in this genre too, when you apply. Please submit your application in the Glamour and Exotic Art – Free Creative Space category in case your performance visually depicts glamour and exotic style!
GLAMOUR AND EXOTIC ART – COMPETITION
These days, this genre is going through its real renaissance, and moreover, it’s no longer specifically conquering on the pole, but also on other equipments (e.g. aerial) with its typical world of movements, as well as with the sensual, emphatic and theatrical clothing and props related to the genre. Regarding the costume, within the limits of good taste, it is also possible to wear clothing and footwear that are not allowed in the Pole and Aerial Art genre. Due to the distinctive style features of the Glamour and Exotic Art genre, it is specifically aimed at the adult age group, so competing/performing and watching the performances (for the audience) will be possible in a separate time slot. In terms of equipment, a combined „freestyle” category will be offered, which will be judged by the jury based on the universal scoring criteria of Pole and Aerial Art. Submission of the Theme/Technical Form is required in this genre, too.
GLAMOUR AND EXOTIC ART – FREE CREATIVE SPACE
All the features and characteristics of the Glamour and Exotic Art competition, as well as the wider time interval of the Free Creative Space, are applied together in this genre. Beyond the framework of the visuals (e.g. costume) and the age limit, there will be no judging by the jury or the audience, however, the Theme/Technical Form must be submitted in advance in this genre as well.
WHAT IS THE THEME/TECHNICAL FORM AND WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SUBMITTED?
In a competition, participants usually have the opportunity to perform on the equipment provided exclusively by the organizer; at Pole and Aerial Art Hungary, we would like to provide more freedom to the participants, and our scoring criteria has been designed accordingly. However, for this it is essential that we can prepare for the event as best as possible from a security, technical and logistical point of view. Therefore, in order to run the competitions/performances safely and smoothly, we need to know well in advancewhat the participants’ needs are about the use of equipment, and the approval of the request is necessary so that both parties can make sure that a certain idea can be implemented both technically and time-wise.
The submission of a description of the artistic theme is necessary for the following reasons:
- It helps the jury and the audience in the correct interpretation of the performance.
- The organizers will get a detailed picture in time about where the performance should be placed in the timeline of the event from a technical and dramaturgical point of view.
- During the intorduction of the competitor/performer the audience can be addressed not only visually, but also with words, thus the message/emotional world conveyed by the performance can reach its destination by affecting several senses.
WHAT KIND OF HELP THE PARTICIPANTS CAN GET WITH THE TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION OF THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT?
The organizing staff tries to provide as much technical assistance as possible, however, in the case of the participants’ own equipments, they must take care of transporting their equipment to and from the venue. It is not possible to store equipment on site before or after the event. In the installation/suspension of special equipment, it is worth asking for the help of a person(s) who has professional experience in the field of assembly/installation.
The organizer is not responsible for any accidents or damages resulting from improper use of one’s own equipment.
WHAT ARE THE SANCTIONS IF AN APPLICANT CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT FOR ANY REASON?
There is no sanction for staying away from the event and no justification is required. However, according to the Rules and Regulations, the application fee is not refundable.
IN THE CASE OF POLE COMPETITION CATEGORIES, IS IT REQUIRED TO USE BOTH STATIC AND SPINNIG POLES? IF YES, IN WHAT PROPORTION? SHOULD THE FULL LENGTH (4M) BE USED?
It is not mandatory to use both poles, nor to use the full 4m, but those who use them well can obviously expect higher technical scores.
ARE THERE COMPULSORY ELEMENTS?
No, there aren’t.
DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF A SPORTS ASSOCIATION TO APPLY?
